If your treatment might involve major reconstructive surgery to your face or mouth, you will be seen at the ERAS (Enhanced Recovery) clinic. This is held in the Preassessment clinic in the Institute of Neurological Sciences and Regional Maxillofacial Surgery Unit at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. These videos introduce the healthcare professionals who will be involved in your treatment, explain what to expect and set out what you can do to prepare for surgery and support your recovery.
If you are going ahead with surgery, you will be informed of when to come into the hospital. You will be admitted to the Maxillofacial ward the day before your surgery. After surgery, you will have some time in the Critical Care ward for close observation before completing your recovery back on the Maxillofacial ward.
